Taking its name from the savoury classic, Gibson is a signature cocktail bar by Jigger & Pony Group that champions ingredients in classic cocktails with modern twists. In its opening year, the bar achieved Top 4 Best New International Bar at the 2016 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards and ranked #25 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2020 list. Introducing Martin Villareal, Bar Operations Manager
A familiar face in Singapore’s cocktail community - last seen as the Head Bartender of Republic Bar - Martin joined Jigger & Pony Group in November 2023 to lead Gibson. Born and raised in the Philippines, he first moved to Singapore more than a decade ago, to work in the housekeeping department of a luxury hotel. The natural hospitality professional soon found his calling behind the bar instead, and is well loved by guests for his charismatic personality, and calm and composed demeanour.
Embodying the ethos of conviviality, Martin always ensures his team delivers a great experience to guests on each and every occasion. As a leader, he believes in positive communication and involving each team member in all aspects of operating the bar, thereby cultivating an environment where each team member feels belonging and a sense of ownership.
